Quote of the day: "When in doubt make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thin line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So, what the hell, leap!"
- Cynthia Heimel
Today during morning class, we had our introduction to CLP (Community Learning Project). The lesson began with everyone sitting in a circle, talking about what 'floats your boat' and what 'gets on your goat'. This activity began getting ideas out there for what we can do for our project. Once that activity was finished, we split up into our school groups - or in our case our 2 school groups - and began brainstorming ideas. Our team was very productive, and although it might have been because of our planning back in term 1, I was fairly proud of us. Our project was began with the idea of creating a stronger bond with our junior campus. This moved up to the fact that transitioning between the campuses and overall high school can be difficult, so we decided that our group would create a program that would allow people from the senior campus to go to the junior campus or local primary schools, and playing games with them, joining in in their lessons, and helping them learn, and giving small speeches so the students find the transition between schools a little easier. We did add a few new ideas to the project, as well as giving it a title, and a motto, so this was a significantly productive class.
During evening class we didn't do much since it was our introduction to laptops. We got told the proper etiquette for laptop use and the "dos and don'ts". We then began to make our blogs, and did a bit of self reflection as we wrote our first few posts.
During the evening class, we were just talking about our rest day options, which got many people excited, and then we talked about the expo menu options. That was a little chaotic. We (our expo group) were in a small meeting room, and everyone was talking all at once. It showed me how important it is to try and stay orderly and how trying to decide things in a group can sometimes get out of hand. Near the end we did sort everything out quickly, but it was still a little noisy.
