Quote of the day: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams
Last night’s evening class:
Last night for evening class, we had a student led activity. Last night, it was led by my team, 1B. We decided that we wanted to do something similar to the last activity that had a whole bunch of ‘get to know you’ games, so we ended up doing a game show called ‘Pick It: Game Show’. Our team incorporated trivia with ‘Minute to Win It’ games such as a beer pong challenge (where the contestant has to get 2 ping pong balls into 2 cups) and a ping pong straw challenge (where the contestant has to get across a certain distance by picking up a ping pong ball with a straw). We quickly organised what we wanted to do, and which games we wanted to play, but even though we finished everything we needed, everything felt quite last minute. One of our team members started getting agitated because they weren’t sure what was going on, and we had to make a few changes in some of our games, but in the end, everything worked out well, and everyone was happy. All our peers seemed to really enjoy the night, and the way we mixed up the teams got everyone talking with people that they didn’t usually talk to.
Today:
For morning class, we had ‘Intro to PPI’. PPI stands for (Personal Progress Interview). Here the teachers talked to us about an interview we will be having before visiting weekend, and what we need to prepare for that. In this time, I managed to finish editing my ‘My Story’, as well as my ‘Before SSL’ – which is a series of questions that we need to answer about who we were before coming to the School for Student Leadership.
For afternoon class we had our third CLP lesson. Our team is progressing really well, and we started our Master Plan. I wrote a newsletter entry for our CLP team, however I found it a little difficult mainly because of the word restriction, so I had to make sure I wrote it in only 200-300.
Selfie Sunday:
Over the past week, I have managed to organise a great activity for the community, and overall worked well with the team. Although I got a bit frustrated at the start, I managed to calm myself down, and finish the task at hand. This activity taught me a different way of thinking up solutions for a problem, and be more flexible with my thinking. I have also managed to organise myself a bit more by cleaning up my room, and editing my ‘Before SSL’ and my ‘My Story’.
