Quote of the Day: “The elevator is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs… one step at a time.” – Joe Girard
Last night’s evening class:
Last night for evening class, we had Market Night. Throughout the whole day I was trying to figure out what to do, but luckily I rediscovered my love for a card game called ‘Spit’, so me and 3 others made a casino. One of the people in my group had had a birthday whilst he was here, and he never used the lollies that he was allowed to bring, so we used those as a prize. I wrote up some ‘documentation’ to legitimise our business, and managed to get 2 teachers, and a few students who were part of the ‘police force’ to sign it. We managed to dodge a lot of fines with that simple piece of paper (^-^).
It was a very fun night, mainly because I could play ‘Spit’ basically the whole night, and only spent $20.
Today:
For morning class, we had our second LLP session. My group and I managed to get all our little handouts done, and we are almost ready for the Local Learning Project day. Since we are doing our presentation on bush tucker, we decided to make damper with the kids that are coming to SRC. We talked to one of our cooks – Mrs Pascall – and she told us that we could make a big batch tomorrow (the one for morning tea, so everyone gets the opportunity to eat damper) and on Tuesday, we will make the mixture only for the people that are going to be included in our ‘class’.
During evening class, we had another session of PPI prep. We had to write a ‘Critical Friend Letter’ for our feedback buddies (mine is Sam S.) and make sure we have most of our evidence as well as know what we need for the interview. I managed to finish my letter to Sam (548 words ^-^) and think about some of the evidence I have and need, to prove that I am completing the goals that I have set for myself her at Snowy.
Selfie Sunday:
So far, I think I have done quite well in my SRC journey. I need to organise myself a bit more, but I am opening up a bit more to people, and being more social than I usually am. My roommate and I are getting along well, and I managed to talk to a few new people and get to know them a bit better, which I am proud of. I have participated more in the community, by being part of 3 committees (music, sustainability and cooking), and I could improve by taking part in a few rest day activities.
