Quote of the Day: “My concern is not whether you fail, but whether you are content with your failure.” – Abraham Lincoln
Evening:
Yesterday, for evening class, we had Snowy and Beyond. In this lesson, we watched a few clips (or sections of clips) and answered questions surrounding the Snowy River, and water health. This class was a preparation for the class that we have to do on the 25th, where we will go around the Snowy River, and basically host our own outdoor activity. During this lesson, however, we just delegated tasks, and made sure everyone had a job. We answered a few questions about the river’s health, hydro-power, and other related topics, which we will read out to the class on our little tour. Unlike most people, I had 2 questions I had to answer (rather than 1), which was fine with me since they were about a similar topic, and gave me the opportunity to further research some of the topics I had. The questions I had were about hydropower and its benefits and drawbacks, as well as the management of a major Victorian river.
Today:
We had a whole day class today, called Snowy and Beyond. As you read on the above segment, we were preparing for this task yesterday. In the morning, we got all of our necessary equipment, and went off in one of the buses to go around the Snowy River. We had quite a few stops, and in each one, certain people held activities, or answered the questions we had been given in our previous class. It was a very interesting day, and one of the most fascinating activities – in my opinion – was the one where we tested the river’s health by looking at the macroinvertebrates that lived in the water. I loved being able to see the many different creatures, and learn about how they can be used to see the health of the river – based on what types of macroinvertebrates are living in it.
WWW Wednesday
Today, I have learnt a lot about water management, and what causes the health of water to decline. I can keep this in mind in the future, to think of more sustainable ways to gain power, and try to make sure I have the least impact on the waters health that I can. This includes using more natural cleaning solutions, making sure I always pick up my rubbish and recycle as much as I can.
