Quote of the Day: “If you want to rebel, rebel from inside the system. This is much more powerful than rebelling outside the system.” – Marie Lu
Evening:
Yesterday’s evening class, was a student led activity. This time, 2B had decided to host a ‘Mystery Night’. Here, we played a few games that involved a bit of mystery in them – the first of which was ‘Honey I Love You’. We have played this game a few times, and although it doesn’t particularly fit in with the topic, it was just a warm up game. The other 2 games that we played were called ‘Empire’ and ‘Wink Murderer’. In Empire, we needed to make sure we had a good memory, and know people well enough to be able to build up our ‘empire’ of people. It was quite a fun game, and actually helped build my knowledge on some people, since we had to write down the name of our favourite character/celebrity and guess which celebrity everyone wrote down to win the game.
Wink Murderer is really just a game of perception, but it was still an enjoyable game.
The whole night was very fun, and it is now nice to know that everyone has had the chance to experience what it is like to host a class.
Today:
For morning class today, we had an Intro to POL. POL stands for Presentation of Learning. Sometime in the next few weeks, we will have to present to our expo group – in my case, I will have to present to 1B – about what we have learnt here at SRC and how we have changed. To make the presentations ‘interesting’ we had to pick a presentation technique out of a hat, and we have to incorporate that technique in our presentation. I picked out ‘puppet show’, so now I have to spend quite a bit of time figuring out how I am going to use this to my advantage, as so far, I am not comfortable with that choice. However, I am open to try new things, and I am sure I can make it work.
For afternoon class, we had another CLP session. Here, our team set out what we needed to do for our presentation, and started drafting a plan. We are going to include a bit of music, and hopefully some humour to make sure that it is engaging, and so far, we have done a good job. We have managed our time wisely and made sure that everyone’s ideas are listened to fairly. We have built on some ideas that we weren’t too certain of, but overall, we have got quite a good plan.
There are a few things still to be done for our CLP. We have already finished our masterplan, and we may still need to plan a few things for when we get back home, but right now, the main focus is on completing the presentation.
Selfie Sunday:
This week, I feel like the most influential activity I did was the expo. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone by going out and canoeing as well as hiking for three days, and made sure I tried to be as positive as I could.
The expo was much like the river that we were canoeing on. It had quite a few twists and turns, many ways it could have gone. There were times were we got stuck, and it was particularly difficult, but we kept moving to get to our destination. Fortunately, it was quite a smooth journey, with no winds against us, and no choppy water, so we chose the simplest route, and all worked together well and made memories we can always look back on.
