Quote of the Day: “You have to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. Put binders on and plow right ahead.” – George Lucas
Evening:
For last night’s evening class, we had CLP presentation planning. Here, we got to write and plan, what we are going to do in the 10 minutes we have, for our CLP presentations.
We started the lesson by looking at a few snippets of presentations done in the past, and different presentation techniques we can use to make our presentation interesting, and convey the message we want it to convey. We then went out and – in our CLP groups – started planning our presentations.
Our team immediately started throwing around ideas, and have a basic idea of what our presentation will look like. We still need a bit of time to set out, and script what we want to do – as well as making sure it fits into the time restriction – but the plan has started out great so far.
Today:
For today’s morning class, we had first aid. We have already finished our CPR training, however, in this lesson, we talked about how to treat wounds (minor and major), burns and blisters, head injuries, hyperthermia and hypothermia, and other such injuries. We also discussed treatments and symptoms for asthma and an anaphylactic shock, and how we would approach this sort of situation.
Everything we were taught here, we had to remember, as we had a test – which I completed immediately prior to writing this post. Overall, I do not think it was too difficult, and although I felt uncertain with some of the answers – because I think we didn’t do too much on the subject – I think I passed (a pass is 20/27).
For afternoon class, we had GPS navigation. Here we got partnered up, and had to use a small GPS device to find our way around the school, and find some markers that were left in some creative places (one of the most difficult to find was under a table). My group didn’t end up having enough time to find all of them, but it was fun to walk around the campus and look for the markers.
Motivated Monday:
The thing I enjoyed most in this past week was the relaxation class. It helped calm me down, and got me more relaxed and positive for the weeks to come.
Something that I didn’t truly enjoy as much was listening to one of the discussions my expo group had, as I realized it was a little loud, and some people don’t get along as well with others. However, I know we do still have a little way to go, and we still have time to become a closer team, especially on the upcoming expedition.
