Quote of the Day: "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic." - Anonymous
Evening:
Yesterday, for evening class, 1B did 'Expo Roles & Goals'. Since we have expo tomorrow, we had to sort out who wanted to do which roles, on which days. We had the same roles as last time - like timekeeper, team organiser, campsite cleanup, etc. - however, we have less people in our expo group (only 10) so some of us had to double up on jobs during certain days. The roles I have are:
- Day 1: Enviro-caretaker - facilitates the cleanup at areas we have eaten at, and talks about interesting facts on the surrounding environment during the expo.
- Day 2: Timekeeper - keeps track of time, and talks with team organiser to plan how long rests are going to be. Dinner cleanup - makes sure everyone has cleaned up the area around them after dinner, as well as washed all the dishes and cutlery that has been used for dinner.
- Day 3: Campsite cleanup - makes sure that everyone is up on time and manages to cleanup quickly and efficiently, so that the group can get moving as quickly as possible
We then wrote a group, and personal goal, as well as strategies on how we were going to achieve the goals we have set.
Today:
First up, we had 'Expo prep'. In this lesson, we packed our expo bags, to make sure we had everything we need for our 3-day expedition (which is tomorrow). After we packed and water-proofed everything in the bag, we moved onto the food.
The food was distributed – fairly – evenly between everyone in the team, and we made sure we had enough food for each day.
For afternoon class, we had CLP Masterplan. In this lesson, my group (MWSC 1) finished the masterplan, printed it off, and bound it. It looks really good, and I am quite proud of our group for finishing it.
Teamwork Tuesday:
This week, 1B has been progressing quite well. Although there are a few rough patches here and there, the team has managed to mature enough to respect the fact that some of us do not get along too well, and have been able to work around that. Even during expo roles and goals, we talked about some strategies that could be used to avoid conflict, and the majority of us added that to our hopes & concerns.
