Poem of the Day:
“Fly with your dreams,
Even if you can’t cope,
As our dreams are our vision,
Our destiny and our hope.” – Unknown Author
Yesterday: (<= OMG DIFFERENT TITLE)
Yesterday, we had CLP Day. We started off by cleaning up the school, making sure it was as presentable as possible. Everyone chipped in to clean up each room, and sort out the tables in the common room.
When everything was set up, we started putting the name cards on the table, as well as decorating them. A few other people and I went out to get some native plants to make the centre piece of each table. It was a very exciting and busy day, especially since I was student leader.
Being student leader, I got to look over how everyone was doing. It was a great thing, seeing everyone step up, and show around their liaison teachers around. Although some people were starting to get really nervous, there was a great vibe in the community.
When all the guests started arriving, we were all ready. Everything was set, and all the decorations and artwork was put up. We were introduced to the teachers of other school, as well as some locals from Marlo and Orbost.
It was a very successful day, and everyone’s presentations looked great. The musical performances in between some of the presentations were really nice, and everyone, overall, seemed to have enjoyed the day.
Today:
Today is our last rest day. ~(*o*)~
Today, I helped out quite a bit in the kitchen – as tonight is formal night – as well as with the t-shirt printing.
Lately, everyone had to chip in with the t-shirt printing, as those are the shirts that we are getting at the end of the term. A while ago, we decided what colour we wanted the shirt, and the ink to be. We had also decided on the pattern at the front and at the back of the shirt, so now, we are printing it onto the actual t-shirt. We managed to finish screen printing the rest of the shirts that we had left. Now all that is left to do, is iron and wash them. (^-^)
Tonight is formal night and the cooking committee is in charge of the decorations and food. Thus, it was a very busy day for us. I helped in the kitchen, just chopping up some vegies, and I was also making desert – which is mini pavlovas. It looks really nice, and everyone did a great job with the decorations in the common room. I am actually quite excited, as it is only an hour away as of this exact moment. There is excitement in the air, as everyone anticipates the end of iDEARR, to finish readying themselves for this event.
Spirit Spot Saturday:
Today is Saturday, and usually, we go out to the beach, and just write down our thoughts. Most of the things I write are quite personal, so I’d prefer not to share it. However, I will share this:
I am significantly nervous for the end of this term. However, the feeling is much different than what I am used to ‘nervous’ being. It isn’t that sensation of butterflies in the stomach, before doing a performance, or the slight fear that makes you go into a small shell of yourself when you are confronted by a new area and new people. I feel, more of a sensation of dread. It isn’t to the extent that I never want to go back home. It is just, I am nervous to see how things will work from here onwards. Will I continue the friendships I have? I will make sure I do my best to.
Will I continue the new habits I have acquired, or will I end up disregarding them? However, I act when I go back, I do know 1 thing:
This place has changed me. Despite all the thoughts I had at the start of this term, this experience did change me. Whether it is visible or not, is irrelevant. Change is change. Whether it is good, or bad, I am not too certain. Aspects of me have changed for the better, but whether I use the skills I have acquired here for good, like I am now will determine what I have learnt. “With great power comes great responsibility.” But will I allow myself to use initiative, and take responsibility? How will I continue this journey of leadership when I get home?
I am not certain, but if I take it day by day, the answer will eventually become clearer. One cannot see what has taken shape from too far away. So I will step closer every day, and one day, I will see how I have become who I am.
Was that too deep. I guess it is quite. However, those are my thoughts. Not sure what use it is to those who read it, but so as you wish. There isn’t much information there. Not sure what there is to do with my thoughts.
